His practice involves general Otolaryngology which includes the medical and surgical care of disorders of the ears, nose, throat and related structures. He has published many peer-reviewed journal articles, and he then recognized the need for a children’s book dealing with a common problem in his practice.

The idea for this book came from his pediatric patients and their incessant need to put things where they shouldn’t go! He teamed up with his somewhat more creative co-author, Richard Jacobson to create their book, Don’t Stick Sticks Up Your Nose! Don’t Stuff Stuff In Your Ears![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dr. Altman is the Chairman of Surgery and is a member of The Professional Practice Evaluation Committee at Arrowhead Hospital in Glendale, Arizona.  He is passionate about the health of the people of Ethiopia and provides medical care and training during medical mission trips there.

Dr. Altman lives in Phoenix, Arizona, is married and has 2 beautiful daughters and a very active son. He is a  woodturner and hikes nearly every week up Camelback Mountain in Phoenix.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_heading main_heading=”About the Book” alignment=”left”][/ultimate_heading][vc_custom_heading text=”Don’t Stick Sticks Up Your Nose! Don’t Stuff Stiff In Your Ears!, an engaging book written by ENT doctor Jerald Altman and his co-author Richard Jacobson. Through clever rhymes and illustrations, it teaches children that noses and ears are for smelling and hearing—not for storing small objects. It is a 2-time National Award Winning book.

The 2015 edition of Stick Sticks Up Your Nose! Don’t Stuff Stuff in Your Ears! continues as a playful, colorful and memorable 32-page book that includes cultural references for Jewish children. This edition will keep them from being meshugenah and “misplacing” dreidels and shofars—which corresponds nicely with the ancient blessing, Asher Yatzar…

..Blessed are You, our God, King of the universe, Who formed man with wisdom and created him many openings and many hollows. It is obvious and known before Your Throne of Glory that if even one of them ruptures, or if even one of them becomes blocked, it would be impossible to survive and to stand before You…

The book offers a fun and culturally familiar way for parents to start a discussion with their kids about safety.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Interview Topics” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:15px|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%20Slab%3A100%2C300%2Cregular%2C700|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal”][info_list style=”circle with_bg” icon_bg_color=”rgba(237,237,237,0.38)” font_size_icon=”24″ connector_color=”rgba(51,51,51,0.01)”][info_list_item list_title=”Foreign bodies in kids’ ears and noses” list_icon=”Defaults-angle-double-right” title_font_size=”20″ title_font_line_height=”28″]Prevention: How do parents avoid the problem of ear and nose foreign bodies?
